You’re not walking quite yet, but that doesn’t mean you’re not fast and into everything. You’re sweet and you giggle all the time, but you’re opinionated and difficult to distract when you want to do something you’re not supposed to do (ahem – stay out of the dog bowls, please).

You’ve given up your bedtime bottle for a sippy cup at dinner. You prefer to climb up the stairs instead of being carried. You’re days of being a baby are quickly slipping away, but you still climb into my lap for story time and suck your thumb (hold on to that for a while longer, will you?).

You’re looking so much like a little boy now, I guess because you are one.

Happy Birthday, Baby Boy! Try not to grow up too fast, okay?

For this post, I thought it might be fun to share a near full gallery – just in case you’re wondering what a full gallery of cake smashing looks like I like to capture the little details in addition to the excitement. A great way to display a cake smash is with a custom storyboard – which I’ll be showing in another post (once the favorites have been selected).

First we start with the cake. Mmmmm.

Taking a minute to inspect the frosting…hmmmm….neat.

This frosting…it’s good stuff.

Hmmm, all this excitement requires a thumb suck break.

Okay, I’m ready to dig in.

Okay, now that’s good stuff. Nom, nom, nom.

So now it’s time to pick 2-13 favorites for a story board and that’s even tougher than catching a baby covered in frosting!

In case you need a refresher, “Life Story Series” is a 12 month personal project that myself and a group of  very talented photographers are participating in.  It shows just a little glimpse into our lives. This month – it’s the dreaded grocery shopping.

Having two 2-year-olds and a soon-to-be-one-year-old, I get asked all the time: “How do you go grocery shopping?”

Well, I’ll show you. It’s really not as difficult as you may think as long as you go with your spouse (as seen here) or a kid-friendly supermarket. And by kid friendly I mean they have the ginormous-hard-to-maneuver shopping carts – because they’ll hold 3 toddlers (4 actually, but we won’t go there).

First, we get ready to go out the door. I’m not going to lie – this part is often quite a challenge.

We get into our carts.

We fiddle with buckles and zippers.

In the “Shop along” (yes, that’s what it’s called), the girls entertain their brother.

We paroose the aisles.

We search for the perfect produce.

We are king of the carriage.

And because either we’re crazy or it’s impossible to find everything we need at just one store -  we move on to a new store -with a new cart.

Beep, beep.

We get a little silly.

Okay, okay – a lot silly.

And we ring ourselves out.
